Measured building surveys
A measured building survey records an existing building exactly as it stands today. We measure every floor on site and draw it up as accurate floor plans, elevations and sections that your architect, engineer or agent can work from straight away.
What you receive
- Floor plans of every level, fully dimensioned
- Elevations of each face of the building
- Building sections showing floor-to-ceiling heights and slab levels
- Roof plans
- Reflected ceiling plans on request
- AutoCAD (.dwg) and PDF files as standard, Revit on request
When you need one
- Designing an extension, loft conversion or basement
- Planning a refurbishment or change of use
- Preparing a planning or listed building consent application
- Checking floor areas before buying, selling or letting
- Replacing drawings that are missing, old or inaccurate
How we do it
We use 3D laser scanning combined with survey control, which captures the building in millions of measured points rather than a handful of tape measurements. That data is then drawn up in AutoCAD or Revit and checked by a second person against the scan before it is issued.
Questions
How accurate is a measured building survey?
Laser scanning measures to within a few millimetres. Drawings are produced at the scale and level of detail agreed in your quote, so you know exactly what you are getting before we visit.
Do you need to see inside every room?
Ideally, yes. Any area we cannot access is clearly marked as not surveyed on the drawings, so nothing is guessed.
Can you survey occupied buildings?
Yes. Scanning is quick and non-intrusive, so homes, offices and shops can carry on as normal while we work.
